Dr. Dana Tannenbaum specializes in the following:
Dr. Dana Tannenbaum has a thriving Glaucoma practice at A Center for VisionCare. She is frequently called upon to present lectures on glaucoma to physicians as well as educational seminars to her patients & the public. She is also called upon to offer her expertise as an expert witness on Ophthalmology issues.
Dr. Tannenbaum completed medical school at McGill University in her hometown of Montreal, Canada. This was followed by ophthalmology residency training at the University of California, San Diego and glaucoma fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Tannenbaum is a leading researcher on the newest techniques for imaging the optic nerve for early diagnosis of glaucoma. She has published extensively and has won numerous awards for her work in this area.
Dr. Mario Meallet specializes in the following:
Dr. Meallet is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, where he teaches cataract and corneal surgery.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Meallet received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute/LA County/USC Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in cornea/external disease at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
Following his fellowship, he joined the faculty at the Doheny Eye Institute. During his six years at the institute he gained extensive experience in cataract and corneal surgery, as well as medical and surgical management of glaucoma.
Dr. Meallet specializes in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery, including endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) for patients with corneal edema and Fuch’s dystrophy. He also specializes in diagnosis and management of keratoconus, including INTACS corneal implants.
Dr. Meallet has lectured and taught in numerous surgical courses. He has also published in textbooks on cataract surgery.
Dr. Moysidis is an Adult & Pediatric Retina Specialist who has received numerous prestigious honors, published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and developed a novel nanotherapeutic that is now in clinical trials.
Dr. Moysidis went to medical school at the University of Miami and received his ophthalmology residency training at the LAC+USC Medical Center, USC Roski Eye Institute, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). He received his vitreoretinal surgery training at the world-renowned Associated Retinal Consultants / Beaumont.
His clinical and research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, retinal detachments, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, Coats’ disease, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, persistent fetal vasculature, and advanced vitreoretinal surgical techniques, including surgery for premature infants, complex retinal detachment repair, and grafting techniques such as autologous retinal transplantation and human amniotic membrane implantation. Dr. Moysidis is also interested in ocular trauma and is available to see ocular emergencies after hours.
Dr. Cynthia Boxrud specializes in:
We are thrilled to have Dr. Cynthia Boxrud rejoin our team. She worked with A Center for Vision Care from 2007 to 2014. She is a professor at Jules Stein Eye Institute and has 30 years’ experience with the completion of more than 15,000 eyelid surgeries. She is an expert in eyelids, orbit, and socket and has a busy practice with cosmetic Botox and Fillers. We are extremely fortunate that she has agreed to rejoin us! Call us for an appointment. She has clinic on Monday mornings.
Dr. Sitara Hirji will be joining A Center for VisionCare in August 2025. She is a board-certified glaucoma and cataract surgeon who has been published in several scientific journals and ophthalmology textbooks. She is a leader in the field and takes special interest in understanding the visual symptoms of glaucoma patients and finding ways to improve the quality of vision and life for her patients. She is an excellent surgeon –expertly trained in minimally invasive glaucoma and cataract surgery, as well as glaucoma filtering surgery.
After graduating from the University of Southern California, Dr. Hirji completed medical school and ophthalmology residency at Columbia University in NYC. She then completed glaucoma fellowship at Stanford University. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and American Academy of Ophthalmology. She continues to work on and publish research articles to further advance the field and has won several awards for her research throughout her career.
Dr. Hirji is a compassionate and caring doctor who enjoys getting to know her patients. She is from southeast Los Angeles and is fluent in English and Spanish. She looks forward to joining our team at A Center for VisionCare and taking excellent care of our community!
