TECNIS ® Multifocal IOL

image

The Tecnis® IOL is another exciting option for the treatment of both cataracts and presbyopia.

When people get into their early forties presbyopia develops, multifocal introacular lenses are designed to provide a person with the ability to see objects at distance, intermediate and near vision ranges.

The Tecnis® IOL, approved by the FDA in 2009, uses diffractive rings on its posterior surface to maximize clear images at all ranges of vision. It also has an aspheric optic design engineered to reduce the spherical aberration of an average cornea.

The unique difference of the Tecnis® IOL is the diffractive rings run very close to the optic’s center and then continue out toward the periphery through the entire lens. As a result the multifocal effect of the lens is more independent of the pupil size.

Your doctor will perform a thorough examination and advise you of a customized treatment plan for effectively correcting your vision.
